The Elder Sign of Hallow
Eldrich Energy/Magic== Eldrich magic is the magic of the Great Old Ones of the Hallow reality.
The origins of eldrich magic understood nearly as well as the Great Old Ones themselves, very little. Most educated guesses believe that this force of mystical energy is cosmic in origin and is widely believed to be the source of power for most magical and mystical entities throughout Hallow.
Exceptionally rare within the confines of the horror realities and nearly nonexistant outside the C-Sphere there are only a few documented cases of this form of base energy being used without dire consequences. Most uses of Eldrich Magic ends with the user suffering overwhelming maddness at the least, and rampant destruction at the worst. (usualy destroying anything that was ment to be saved in the process)
Currently there is only one regularly documented use of Eldrich energy that has not resulted in wholesale death and destuction. The Airship Damnation's Grace has managed to actually bond two lesser Eldrich entities to their engines forming a drive system that is nearly sentient. The process used to achieve this bonding is unknown to all save one, the alchemest of the Damnation's Grace Justice "Black" Byron. Byron is rarely seen out of his quarters between the two engiene rooms and reports claim that the man went through a fundemntal change to acomplish the feat.
The bonding of the engienes also allows the airship to reality breach without using an aether powered UCAT (Universal Causality Alignment Transport) drive. The ship utilizes the entities in its engines to literaly rip a hole betwen realities. The reason for this is the unstable combination of Aether (Particularly Green Aether) and Eldrich magic. As an interesting side effect this transport system also allows for short range transport of crew and cargo. This system uses the same ripping breach system without the manditory 3 day recharge needed for the ship to preform a reality breach.
Agreements have been made between Captain Donovan "Nox" Buer of the Damnation's Grace and Dr Thaddeus Baptiste' Vale of the Neo Dulcimer to study the effects of eldrich energy with the substance known as Lazarus. If these experiments bear fruit the potental for no only the Damnation's Grace herself but for Hallow is mind blowing. the potental boon of Eldrich energy coupled with a extensive supply of Lazarus could make Hallow a superpower in the C-Sphere, although it would be many years before field testing of such projects could begin.
